Art Frames by Abdul Vingwele
At Made of Kitenge, we celebrate African art & crafts. Our collaboration with Tanzanian artist Abdul Vingwele reflects just that. Following in the footsteps of his father, a sculptor, Abdul discovered his love for painting more than a decade ago. With no formal art training, Abdul’s work is a pure expression of passion and instinct: “When I see the brush and colors, I forget everything else. The beach, the clouds, everything around me becomes a painting“, he says when we meet him in his small workshop in Dar es Salaam.
 
What sets Abdul apart is not just his art, but his unwavering dedication to his community. As a father of two, Abdul dreams of using his talent to uplift others. He envisions opening an art school for local children, especially orphans, where he can teach them to paint and provide the tools they need to express their creativity. With each painting sold, he gets closer to this goal—helping future generations find hope and purpose through art.
